ITINERARIES BETWEEN LANGA AND HAUTE PROVENCE / THE CYCLE PATH OF PROVENCE
The project of the Cycle Path of Provence is one of the initiative included in the project “A new territory to be discovered – openair activities in close contact with nature” of Alcotra Plan 2007/2013 of Province of Cuneo and the Département des Alpes de Haute, continued in 2015 with the project “Itineraries between Langa and Haute Provence”, leaded by Unione del Fossanese with the Province of Cuneo, Comunità Montana Valle Stura and Conseil général des Alpes de Haute-Provence.
The connection between the two cross-border territories is really important at European level as a link between existing Eurovelo cycle paths. The Cycle path track, that retrace an ancient Roman street to Provence, has a unique touristic and environmental potential. The territory spreads from the hills of Langhe and Roero to the plain of Stura di Demonte, till the High Valley, that connects the French valley of Ubaye and the suggestive Mediterranean view.
Along the Cycling Path of Provence there are many other lines – each one different – that will satisfy every tourist's need. The goal of BikeLangheProvence is to offer to the tourists all the information they need about the track, accommodation facilities, events and services in the area they are visiting, and a social tool with which they can share the emotions of a bicycle trip.
Bicycle touring paths of Fossanese
The territory of Fossanese, in the heart of Piedmont, offers signaled bicycle touring paths suitable for all ages. The plain, with its fields, canals and poplar plantations, alternates with rolling hills and deep riverbeds. Sings of ancient and recent history can be found along the paths. Thanks to the archaeological and naturalistic areas, towers and castles, farms and mills a cultural tour may be matched with a relaxing open air travel and healthy workout. Genuine and high quality accommodations and restaurants are at tourists' disposal.
Bicycle touring paths of Valle Stura
Valle Stura has always been the easyest way to reach France through the Maddalena Pass, a natural connection between the Province of Cuneo and Provence. The valley can be traversed for more than 50 km along the cycling line, among wonderful views, the Forte Albertino (fortress) of Vinadio, the Ecomuseum of Pastoralism of Pontebernardo and many other museums of the valley. In addition to the main itinerary, cyclists can enjoy alternative paths like Colle Fauniera (in direction Valle Maira and Grana), and Col de la Lombarde (in direction France), Madonna del Colletto (in direction Valdieri and Borgo San Dalmazzo) and Bagni di Vinadio.
Crossing Alpes-de-Haute-Provence by bike offers the possibility of discovering end enjoying always changing breathtaking panoramas. Each part of the itinerary will take you through new emotions, from the enchanting valleys of Luberon and Haute-Provence, to the hills of Ubaye, the lavender fields in the plain of Valensole and the spectacular Gorges du Verdon.
